Rex Protection for MacBooks
An essential anti-theft tool for cafes, airports, and drop-in workspaces.
Rex is the anti-theft app I wanted for myself.
Most MacBook anti-theft tools feel like weekend projects: with unreliable triggers, clunky interfaces, and sketchy privacy.
I wanted a tool that I could trust to leave running on my own laptop. All day, every day.
Tools can only protect you if they aren't a hassle to use. Rex has a finely-tuned set of arming behavior that fit unobtrusively into your day.
No constant arming and disarming. Rex will arm itself when it's time to, and disarm itself when you're packing up.
Left your headphones plugged in?
— Rex will still alarm out your main speakers
Want real push notifications?
— Rex supports push notifications to your phone (iOS and Android), without geeky Telegram setups.
(Although we support Telegram too if you want to do it that way!)
Wearing wireless headphones?
— Rex will also play an alarm through your headphones while it alarms out the main speakers.
MacBook thief didn't close the lid or pull the power cord?
— Rex will monitor the motion of your MacBook and alarm if it is being taken
No cloud accounts, no analytics SDKs, no ad tracking.
The Rex app doesn't collect any information.
No data ever leaves your Mac except notifications you choose to send to your phone or a webhook.
It's only right that the app you trust to protect your MacBook from being stolen shouldn't steal your data.
Available on the Mac App Store.
