What it is

Rex is a lightweight macOS menu bar app that helps prevent “walk-off” MacBook theft in cafés, shared workspaces, airports, and hotels. It’s designed to protect your laptop without constant manual arming/disarming, and it alerts you immediately when an alarm triggers or clears.

How it works (30 seconds)

1. Install Rex, enable Smart Always-Armed Mode, choose your siren, and set up phone alerts.
2. Use your Mac normally in shared spaces.
3. If an alarm is triggered by a disturbance to your MacBook, Rex alarms immediately and sends a push notification to your phone.
4. Unlocking your MacBook with Touch ID or your password automatically clears the alarm.
